Internet access in (Eastern) Turkey?
I will be traveling in Turkey, a couple of days in Istanbul, but primarily Eastern Turkey for about 10 days. What are my options for Internet access? I will have a small laptop and a data-enabled phone. I realize that there will probably be lots of Internet cafes, but any recommendations for a prepaid USD stick, or a prepaid wifi device? Am I better off just looking for free wifi locations to use with my data-enabled phone? I need to access the Internet at least once daily, but more frequently would be ideal. This is my first trip to Turkey, so any advice on connectivity would be greatly appreciated!
I will be in London UK for about 5 days before I head to Turkey, so if there is an option that could be used in both countries, I'd love to know about that as well.
Thanks!

I do recall sitting in a shopping mall cafe in Ankara using Skype from my Iphone and making a free and very good quality call to California.

Two geographical points.
1. Eastern Turkey is really central Asia, rather than the middle east.
2. Someone named Catgirl going to eastern Turkey really must visit Batman.

LOL, too funny! So would you believe it if I told you that Batman IS in the plan? We will be driving from Mardin to Lake Van, and it is my understanding that we will be passing through the town of Batman! Perhaps I'll be able to convince the group to stop for a few minutes so that I can get my obligatory picture next to a sign that says Batman ...

I will also do a search in that section of Flyertalk. However, I was looking around elsewhere on the Internet for answers to my question and I found the following at http://www.easternturkeytour.org/tou...turkey-faq.htm.
It looks like the company is a tour provider and according to this it seems that I will be able to get Internet access at least every evening at my hotel, even if I am travelling around during the day. For anyone who has travelled in the area, does this sound about right? Many thanks for information that you can provide.
Turkey is fully linked in with the information superhighway. Cell and mobile phone networks are all compatible in Turkey, even in remote areas, but you will need to check with your home network provider in order to ensure connection and prevent costly bills. Internet cafes are widely available across the country, even in small towns. Many hotels will provide computers and, much to your surprise, you will find that nearly all hotels, large and small, rural and urban, will provide excellent wireless internet connection free of charge.
