Bid for an upgrade - why do some flights not qualify?

I've got business class flights out and back from LHR - AUH, both booking class Z on an A380. According to the website, the outbound is not eligible for 'bid for an upgrade', but the return is.

Any ideas why?

Are you certain they're both the 380 ? Could also be that F is booked up

I'm looking at EY20 (no upgrade available) and EY17 (upgrade available) - both showing as A380-800. According to expert flyer there are only 2 F seats taken on EY 20.

Looking at the EY website, minimum upgrade for EY 17 is £1250, so I will probably give it a miss.
