Need just 20 miles
Hi Everyone
First thread and trying not to be too self serving.
I am short by 20 miles for an upgrade - is there anyway to get from any source just 20 points to complete rather than $50USD for min 2000 point buy?
I am only blue currently with EK as had quite a few good Air NZ deals but now EK deals have come back online and I have a RTW trip in F in September but this short trip in August is when I need the 20 points.
Any assistance would be appreciated - skywards are pushing "buy the 2000 miles" deal to confirm your upgrade now and I even rang twice to see if it was just the first person I spoke too rules or was it policy and on both occassions skywards wanted me to buy the miles.

I have done this numerous times. Just call up Skywards, and tell them you are short. They WILL upgrade you, and you will have a negative balance until you take that flight. Obviously, you cannot be short by more than the number of miles you will earn for the flight. But you have to upgrade 6 hours or more before the flight.
Call up Skywards Dubai if it helps.

Skywards unhelpful
Hi toronotoflyer
Called skywards in dubai - they said no! we do not allow skywards account to go into debit
Maybe in your case because you are a gold ?
Of course they did say give us $50USD and we will credit 2000 miles for ya
If you think you can do it, PM and I will give you my account details then LOL

haha, dearbee, im sure we can all think of 'fun' ways to bring the account in to debit. i would love to see someone try this (well, without selling it to someone else) and be approached on the plane by ek audit. apparently ek audit is really slacker-ish when it comes to skywards miles/account audits!!! :-)
good luck, nzatk. hope sunil/someone else helped you sort this out. this is what FT is all about... people stepping up to the plate to help!!! :-)
