Miles not deducted?
I recently used my miles to upgrade a ATH-DXB-BOM flight for me and my wife. The emirates website "manage my booking" shows that both of us have been upgraded but only 30,000 miles (one way upgrade cost per seat) has been deducted from my account.
Should I be glad that I got a free upgrade for my wife or should I expect them to either not upgrade my wife at check in or rather debit my account for another 30K miles?

Count yourself lucky
As long as your booking states that you both are in C you should be fine. Something similar did happen to me some years back (the miles where never taken off the account), but unfortunately only once.
BTW IT took 45 minutes yesterday for me to upgrade two coming flights using points, I wonder why their system can't do it faster.

I also have a similar experience.
I redeemed my skywards miles on UA flight award.
60,000 miles were initially deducted from my account, but after I had finished last segment of the trip, for some reason that I still don't understand, 60,000 miles have been redeposited to my account without any details.
Looks like Skywards is a damn good program.

I had a similar situation quite a few years ago. I redeemed some XX miles for a YY award through a GSA for XX. It was a handwritten ticket and they didn't deduct the miles. I figured at some point they'd wise up, but 12 months later the miles were still there, so i used them again!
