is 2 hrs enuff at JFK?

hi all, i will b on the Ek201 landing in JFK at 13.50pm from DXB, while i have my connecting flight taking off at 16.05 giving me 2 hrs to get off the plane in Y, clear immigration, pick up my bags and go over to CO's terminal to catch my flight, assuming my flight is not delayed, is it possible to do the above? thx.

It's possible but pretty risky. When I arrived in JFK on EK201, there were not many people queuing at immigrations but then again I was one of the first to leave the plane. Then, my companion's bag got delayed so it took sometime to report it (in my experience, EK loses my bags quite often). Then, if your connecting flight is on a different terminal then you have to consider the time to get there as well.

I'd recommend more than two hours - it is possible to do it in that time, but would leave absolutely no room for error.

Flying on EK203 back in April, the flight was an hour late departing, and it looked like JFK immigration was having a bad day, judging by the number of people being taken to "the room".

As a result I was still in the immigration queue when my connecting flight - not my choice of booking sadly - took off (which resulted in one of the least pleasant travelling experiences of my life thus far - yay).

My $0.02: aim for more time...

It can be done, but you have to be lucky. There is so much luggage on these flights, if your bag is last, that's 45 minutes out. Also, immigration, depending on your passport could take a long time, but for me is usually quite quick as JFK has some of the more experienced immigration officials, in that they have seen all the passports.
