EK Codeshare with inferior Airlines

I was just about to book a BKK-KWI flight on EK, having used Thai for years to do this trip every month. Thai service is now poor, the planes are old and uncomfortable, but the service was cheap (53,000 Thai Baht for a business class return).

Just before I clicked to book... I notice the flight details said codeshare. I clicked on the link and guess what... EK uses the Thai Airways flight I'm trying to avoid - and for 20,000 baht extra for the exact same seat.

Has anyone had any issues/complaints against EK for codesharing with an inferior business class product? Is there any other benefits I'd get by accuring Skywards miles that might make the switch (to the same aircraft!) worthwhile?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Only one of the BKK-DXB flights is on a Thai aircraft. Could you not book one of the other flights, or does that not fit in with your onward connection?

Cheers,
Rick

being operated by THAI, would the flight be eligible for skywards points?

I wouldn't call Thai an inferior airline. In fact, if Thai still uses the A330-300s on that flight (EK6200/TG518 IIRC) the seats are better than EK's A330s and B777-300s IMHO. The food and entertainment a slightly subpar but otherwise I find them to be comparable. Even better, EK will now give you a chauffeur drive in Dubai if flying on EK 6200. ^

Hmm... good point. I "used to" fly on a Wednesday KWI-BKK (via DXB, no change in aircraft) and on a Friday BKK-KWI (again, via DXB, no change in aircraft). Now the weekend has changed in Kuwait so I have to fly KWI-BKK on a Thursday evening and BKK-KWI on a Saturday afternoon.

I guess it would be worth a little more investigation. It's just a shame you have to look at each individual flight available to figure out whether you're going to be lumbered with the tired old TG product.

BUTTTTTTTT! Thanks for your comment sadiqhassan. If you're suggesting EK is even worse than TG, you have made me feel relieved with my final decision to switch completely to Qatar Airways.
