Question Tight connection time at JFK. What Emirates will do in case of missing flight

Hi

I booked an Economy class ticket thru a travel agent from CVG to DXB (via JFK) on Emirates.I've 1hr 20mins connection time at JFK. CVG to JFK is a Delta flight. Since last week DL flight is always delayed by atleast couple of hours. In case it happens on my travel date I'll be missing my EK flight.Any idea what should I do if I miss my flight ? who will rebook me EK/DL/Agent.

We are on this same connection next week using DL miles - my advice would be that you switch the CVG-JFK flight to the afternoon flight at 2:50PM (we did) - 1:20 at JFK makes me very nervous especially given that you have to switch terminals. Another plus for the afternoon flight is that its mainline rather than the Comair RJ. If you miss the flight, I would think that DL would be responsible for rebooking you. However, generally speaking the DL staff at JFK is less than helpful - we encountered a series of mishaps when we misconnected going CVG-JFK-IST a few years ago in paid Business class.

Who is the issuaing carrier? I believe that is the one that you should contact but if you are on the earlier JFK-DXB flight then you may just want to talk to EK at JFK and have them get you on the later flight either the direct or if that flight is not available then perhaps the connecting flight via HAM. If you are on the late flight and miss it then you will most likely be going out the next day and you have the whole issue of who would be responsible for hotel etc and that should be the carrier that delayed you but if their is a drop of rain in the country they will claim weather so you have that hurdle to jump. Another pain could be that if you are on the late flight by the time you get to JFK there may not be anyone there to help you at midnight (I am not sure of the last flight out of JFK for DL).

If you flight is in jeopardy while in CVG I would talk to agents there as well as call EK and DL while in CVG if your flight gets delayed.

Thanks for the advice. I'll check with my agent to rebook on that afternoon flight. Ofcourse it might cost me change fees etc.. :-). DL staff at JFK are not helpful at all. I had my bad expereinces there.

Emiartes is the issuing carrier I believe. Need to check with agent.I'm on that 11.00PM flight. So I might end up with no help until morning. Better I take care while in CVG.

If the flights are on one itinerary it's gonna be EK, since they are the overwater carrier.

Or you could do the "same day standby" on DL for the earlier flight - you don't have a profile listed - but if you're GM or PM on DL, you can confirm the standby within 2 hours of the flight for no charge otherwise, there is a charge of I believe $25 per person.

What will Emirates do? Absolutely nothing. I wouldn't press my luck, they are not known for their helpfulness in irregular situations.

DL should have to rebook you since the delay was DL's fault.

Cheers
