Hard to get tickets...

Hi Fellow Travellers,

Here a small story. I've got Emirates tickets from Paris to Sydney and back in a very incredible way!

The portuguese travel-Agent made the reservation and about 20 days before leaving there I was money in hands to get the tickets.

No Sir the travel-agent said, we can't print the tickets because there is no Emirates official office in Portugal.

Well, first of all they could book the flight but no tickets...what do!

I already had the Air-France tickets for Lisbon-Paris and Emirates was ment to be the connection to Sydney.

Several phone calls to Emirates in Paris were made. They could not print the tickets too because the booking was made in Portugal...

This became a mind blowing game for everyone indeed.

Finally Emirates Paris did suggest to call Emirates in Madrid and they could print the tickets after a few days of more controversy and stress.

Happily I went to the agent in order to pick-up the tickets and guess what!

Emirates charged me with 15 Euros charge for the postage of their tickets between Spain and Portugal.

I paid that and the trip was just perfect with Emirates.

Here my suggestion. If a travel-Agent books Emirates flights were there is no Official Office, their computer should reply: "Take care, you can't print it"...

Secondly! Please open a office in Portugal one day. It is so great to fly Emirates !

Kindest Regards

Narayan

I dont know, but I have the impression that Spain and Portugal in general are neglected by a lot of carriers. Connections between Spain and Asia for example are almost nonexistent. Understandably, the national carrier Iberia concentrates more on the South American sector, but getting to the east is not very convenient. Maybe that will change when Emirates is going to start serving Madrid.

That is weird. Next time - just book it online. I am quite sure that if you can get an eticket (CDG-DXB-SYD and return is eticketable) you don't even need to have a billing address in the originating country. You also get bonus miles + a cheaper price.

Cheers
