Qatar Airways it is! After one last trip JFK-DXB next week I am switching. My return from dubai last week was the same old story: upgrades happening, but not for me! there must be some black mark on my gold card. I have flown many carriers to the middle east and asia from the US and the ground staff of this one seems way too jaded to make me feel any sense of loyalty.

Enjoy QR (especially their FFP - you will love it!) If possible, after your first trip with them, give us a brief report on QR in comparion to EK. It would be extremely helpful

Thanks.

I would write and relay your experience to EK - tell them you don't expect special treatment and but that you are considering switching your loyalty to another airline, as it seems others are getting preferential treatement over you on each and every ocassion. Wait and see what happens - they may surprise you.

Otherwise - QR is a great airline.

That's an interesting idea, given i've nothing to lose. To whom and where would I write? Email or Post?

You'd have to check the website - but customer service (copying management and if possible the station mananger in New York) would be most effective.

Nope. You will have to fly through LHR. I believe QR fares from US-Qatar have the transatlantic flights on AA

Cheers

I didn't know that operational upgrades were a published perk of the Skywards program.
