I just couldn't let Emirates without any postings here... and they even fly to/from Zurich.

On the odd occassion that I need to go to Dubai or India (via Dubai), I am delighted to fly Emirates - for reasons of having a change I even choose them over BA.
Their Economy, Business and First Class products are supurb (although in First I find it hard to treat the cabin crews seriously in their national dress!).
Business Class has go to have one of the most comfortable seats going and they were way ahead of their competitors having on-board 'phones and faxes several years ago. I still enjoy watching the take-off/landing through the 'outside' camera.
'Limo' pick-up at both ends is also appreciated for both Business and First Class.
Generally a supurb airline with excellent service. My only complaint is that the ground-handling often lets them down - both in their home airport and overseas.

What is their seat pitch (rougly) in biz and 1st? How far do the seats recline in 1st? Can you earn miles/points for any other airline programme? What's their food like? Do they have alcohol on board? Is smoking allowed or not? Thanks.

This thread gave me the opportunity to pull out my gifts from flights on Emirates.
Having moved two weeks ago, the house is in a state of chaos. i have two crystal cats and two sets of porcelin S&P shakers.
The three flight that I took with them were fantastic. The service in Businss (one flight) and First (two flights) were the best.
With my new job no more visits to Dubai or the gold souk. Oh well.

Sorry I don't know the seat pitch details, but it seems to be much better than average, the seats are extremely comfortable and much wider than the average.
Alcohol is served and the food is excellent with a mix of Middle Eastern and Western being available.
As far as I know smoking is not allowed.
Jaguar, mentions the gifts - I had a lovely collection of procelain (?) buildings, which made great last minute presents!
As for miles I have never earnt any on Emirates - I don't know if you can and I can't be bothered to figure it out.

Even though I travel to Dubai once a year (corporate office there), I've never flown EK. I always fly BA through London.
But they are consistently rated as one of the best service airlines in the world. Maybe one time I will fly them to Dubai instead of EK...

Tried to find some material about Emirates and came across some opinions of people who'd travelled on it.

i fly EK quite often between India and DXB or btween DXB and East Africa. The service in business is almost always excellent. THey had inseat video and other goodies long before the others. Seats are nice and comfy.
food and wines are above average.
They also fly to a lot of cities in teh Gulf and AFrica where there are no other really good choices so from a convenience point they def win. Inflight service is very good and as mentioned alcohol and western meals are served. actually a good number of cabin crew are actually australian and scottish (well at least on my flights).
and they do still have a smoking section on their flights.
overall a really good airline which is managed professionally. their hub at DXB has recently been expanded and totally redone. plus Dubai is a great place to visit.
however try and avoid the older A310 and 300's as they are def showing their age.
