i fly EK quite often between India and DXB or btween DXB and East Africa. The service in business is almost always excellent. THey had inseat video and other goodies long before the others. Seats are nice and comfy.
food and wines are above average.

They also fly to a lot of cities in teh Gulf and AFrica where there are no other really good choices so from a convenience point they def win. Inflight service is very good and as mentioned alcohol and western meals are served. actually a good number of cabin crew are actually australian and scottish (well at least on my flights).

and they do still have a smoking section on their flights.

overall a really good airline which is managed professionally. their hub at DXB has recently been expanded and totally redone. plus Dubai is a great place to visit.

however try and avoid the older A310 and 300's as they are def showing their age.
