how bad is the flooding at DXB?
seeing the flydubai 737 taxi in water as deep as 50% of the tyres, imagine it’s a zoo out there
any photos from the lounge ?

Apols not directly answering the question, but of interest I hope .
I see last nights 21:45 LGW-DXB eventually took off at 03:01 this morning. The similarly timed departure from LHR was cancelled even though the inbound aircraft landed earlier than the LGW one.

Hoping things are somewhat back to normal by tomorrow
Anyone know what the minimum crew rest requirements are for ULH flights?
Im on EK202 tomorrow evening and todays EK201 (which I presume will be my crew tomorrow for EK202) is arriving about 5hrs late
Wondering if the crews late arrival today will lead to a delay in our departure tomorrow

Our flight from Denpaser to Dubai got cancelled today and therefore there is a whole load of a380 passengers trying to get on some fairly full flights over the next few days. I couldnt get through to support for ages either. It had to be done over the phone.

It seems to be getting better, I would think by Sunday the fleet will be somewhat normal. It's been trying to transit only as a way to keep the backlog from growing. Issue is, connecting flights are not always running and lots of crew in wrong places so some flights have been cancelled adding to the melting pot. EK should have stopped flights earlier for checkin but it didnt and now its got a meltdown it created. It should have done a global stop, waited for the weather to receed and then count its stock and move things around rather then keep trying to fly and cause most issues. I did note a NOTAM was issued for only EK and FZ being able to land at DXB earlier.

From the UK / Ireland at least:
- Both dublin flights cancelled
- 2 Heathrow cancellations
- 2 Manchester cancellations
- 2 Gatwick cancellations
A few cancellations yesterday as well, will take some time to get things back onto normal schedule

Looks like the check in suspension at DXB is extended until 9am Thursday.
I'm curious to see if longhaul flights are continuing to take off throughout the night with just the connecting pax.
Also curious as to how the luggage is being handled and whether they are leaving some behind due to issues with baggage loading?

Standing water significantly increases drag on takeoff but more importantly increases stopping distances in the case of an abort. Both Boeing and Airbus prohibit operations with water depths on the runway exceeding inch. There are significant weight penalties as you approach the limit.

I have been to Dubai maybe 20 times in my life and it has rained on two occasions whilst I have been there once heavily and once just a spitting shower. So it clearly rains periodically. But I noticed there appear to be no drains in a lot of the city. The residential street I stayed on became flooded. Why don't they put drainage in, especially at the airport?

Still at the airport, no idea about anything. There seems to be a lack of command and control or willingness to take responsibility. It's been 38hours since I arrived.
