Miles Upgrade

Miles Upgrade

Hi,

I just booked a business class ticket using my wife's Skywards account (after a bad experience with transferring miles from multiple Amex accounts) and I had the upgrade option available. I then added my Skywards number to the reservation and now I get an error "Sorry, you cannot upgrade with Miles", and when I go over the message I see - "Upgrade with miles is only available to Emirates Skywards members."

Any idea what's going on? Should I contact the call center? Any experience?

I would certainly call customer service to inquire. I don't have lots of experience with CS, but when I have called they were helpful clarifying things. Just try to call during business hours in DXB. The other thing I was not sure of, when you said you had the upgrade option... if you meant when you go into your booking, it says "upgrade with mile", it is not until you click through to the upgrade page that you can see if there is current availability of inventory. Not sure if that is the issue in your case, but just something to be cognizant of. Good Luck

If this happens in the future - never add your personal Skywards if booking on someone's else account. it'll block the upgrade option online (but still available via call center). I asked them to remove it and it is back.
