First Time Award Booking Question
Hope there are some FTers who can answer a pretty basic question for me.... I am looking at the availability of booking two F awards for Feb '24..... It looks like EK only releases one F award early on, so I am expecting to book one seat for Mrs B in F and book myself in J and then hope for a cash or miles upgrade later on. My question is this, if I want both of us on the same reservation, will I be able to do that by calling EK to book the one F award and the one J award. If they won't book it as one reservation because of the split classes... would they consolidate it later if I were able to secure the upgrade on my J tkt? Thanks.

You will have 2 separate reservations, and I do not think that they can consolidate them later. However, I was in the same exact situation several months ago at JFK, one confirmed in F and the other in J (going to MXP) (Both with miles). I was able to secure the upgrade with miles in the lounge at JFK, while at check in they told me it was impossible. Only Emirates employees are entitled to do that

No I did not. I even called reservations a couple of days before the flight, as there were plenty of available seats in F, but they told me that upgrades were not available. Same story at check-in. Only in the lounge the Emirates lady upgraded me immediately.
