November 2022?

The press release says the interlining and code-sharing will commence in November 2022. Has anybody seen or heard anything specific as to when it’ll actually start? I’d love to start earning and burning UA miles on EK this month!

Some of the codeshare routes with United are bookable as of today.

A reminder, there will be 272 routes UA routes that will be codeshared with EK via ORD, IAH, and SFO in the initial codeshare agreement.

I think there is probably an opportunity for EK to add second daily flights to ORD and SFO to provide better connecting itineraries.

Any info on status reciprocity / benefits? That would be good!

Passengers who buy on EK from EWR to DXB or DXB to EWR and accidentally end up on UA metal will not be happy.

United is my main airline. I tried to buy a segment on EK via United. The agent had to go through the "rate desk" to find out how to do it, and based on what I was told, you can only do that if the itinerary starts and ends in the US. Buying separate segments on EK and UA turned out to be cheaper.

I can unhappily report that - as of now - Emirates still flies out of the ORD's Terminal 5.

EK won't be moving to T1, there is not enough room for them to get over there and I doubt EK wants to increase their costs with moving the bird from T5 to T1.

Despite my earlier hopeful prediction, I would now agree that EK will likely stay in T5 until the new Global T2 is completed.... which is several years down the road.

Based on my experiences traveling in economy on both United and Emirates, I wouldn't really care.

I departed ORD T5 on EK a couple of days ago. The place is now a full construction site, redoing retail and F&B, so customer experience is even worse at the moment. Probably the worst contract lounge of in the entire network, too. https://www.ord21.com/signature_proj...erminal-5.aspx

Was chatting with one of the check-in agents. Although not employed by EK, he said it was unlikely EK could move to T1 unless it joined Star Alliance due to exclusivity clauses in that pact, which kind of makes sense.

I agree, any lounge in T5 is below par in so many ways... the only possible exception is the new DL lounge, but I have no experience with it as it only recently opened when DL moved operations to T5. I have not been in T5 for over a year, but I guess Chicago politicos touted the renovations being operational now was just that, functional but maybe there are more parts not 100% complete than they claimed. But everything should be complete in T5 this year, and will be sooo much better, but still not comparable to many other int'l hubs. I had not thought about the potential *A issues, but would seem to make sense.... and I can't imagine EK joining *A

Anecdotally the SFO flights have been quite full recently. I know EK has a lot of places they want to send their planes but I hope SFO gets a second daily.

If anyone else has had trouble booking these flights online - I was able to book via twitter DM. Emirates site still doesn't seem to support searching for UA flights to/from minor US airports. In my case it was DSM, you get 'You searched for flights for Des Moines; however, we`re offering you alternative connections for Chicago.'
