Does Skywards miles change value over time?

Hi there,

I was checking LHR-MNL Business Class flights the other day (2 pax) and clicking through to paying with Cash+Miles, I was offered to use my 120,000 miles to save GBP 1800 from my flight cost.

Looking at exactly the same ticket, routes and travel dates today (a few weeks after the above search), my 120 000 miles are now only worth GBP 400.

Is that normal? Or could i be looking, without realising, at a different ticket class hence the miles arent worth as much?

I thought miles had a fixed static value across all flights/routes, grateful for any clairification anyone can offer.

Many thanks!
