you really need to get the entertainer app if you're paying that much for brunch and drinks in Dubai

Not necessarily. Choosing an aisle seat in the centre bank next to a couple, or any aisle seat next to an empty seat ensures that. Needs careful planning, usually in the lounge, though.

Zuma brunch and champagne afterwards soon was north of £500.

I also leave the domestic help at home with the baby.

I think it’s worth the upgrade- go for it.

Far easier to fly with another airline (or Emirates A380) I can chose my seat next to the window (my preference) and reach the aisle either with the 1-2-1 or the clever design with Oman

I am sorry as Emirates may be good but quite frankly not good enough to overcome that layout

It was just north of $1k/pp difference between Y & J (biz special fare) SFO-DXB/stopover/DXB-MLE end of year, which seemed like a good deal. Wife and I are in F, but bought the biz special for 2 kids (6&4) and our nanny. Figured they might actually put the kids and nanny together (2-3-2 777 on both legs) if I called and explained the situation, but I think I was a little too optimistic (only called once). Is it likely my kids and nanny end up in 3 different rows? Should I try calling again? Fares are changeable/refundable, so I can easily put them back in coach, but thought everyone would arrive a little better rested if I bought J. Any experience/advice much appreciated in advance.

1. ridiculous to travel in a different cabin to your kids.

2. kids under 12 will be sat with an adult. I assume that they are on a separate ticket with the nanny.

3. I hope your kids won’t be running into F from J.

I was hoping to have them up to sample wines... per your suggestion, maybe I'll bring drinks back to them instead.

Doesn't seem that ridiculous, especially since OP said the kids will be cared for by the nanny during the flight anyway.

Not ridiculous at all, what would be ridiculous is paying F prices for kids.

If something happened on the flight I’d want be with my kids even if the nanny is good especially at that age.
