Probability of joining *A post Covid19
So with the predicted suppression and decline of air traveler numbers in general, what are the chances that Emirates joins Star Alliance (or any alliance, but I don't think One World is an option with Qatar still a member and Sky team doesn't seem like the better choice compared to *A) to boost passenger numbers. I know they have an extensive network but there is certainly some destinations they don't serve and could potentially benefit from connecting flights on alliance partners, vice versa for primarily EK passengers needing to connect (especially with some airlines folding or shrinking their operations). Other benefit is to get some passengers who don't fly frequently enough to be elite status with multiple carriers, but are willing to fly on EK if they can get alliance benefits recognised.
I know this idea/rumor has been floated around before, but with the unprecedented impact on passenger revenue do you guys think EK will reevaluate their position on this matter.

Demand will rebound much faster. Airlines are just crying to get bailout money.
I suspect EK to lighten up the requirement for skywards further either directly or through some type of challenge

LH for sure would not like that idea at all, having been such a vocal & prominent opponent to the ME3s successful expansion in the German/European market in general. They have also done some pretty heavy lobbying in Brussels in that respect. Mind you as LH now have to be bailed out by the German govermnent the complaints about state subsidies may be off the table.

If they were to join any then perhaps the best fit is Oneworld Connect which would allow them to partner with some Oneworld airlines without having to partner with them all. That would enable them to continue and enhance the relationship with other Oneworld airlines they already partner with (eg Qantas, JAL) without having to be in an alliance with Qatar.
Unfortunately though I can't see them joining any alliance.

While I will be definitely happy if EK join *A, I doubt it will ever materialise anytime soon.
Their extensive partnership with QF which is OneWorld members might create some issue.
Also EK seems doing well by itself until Covid strikes.
