Upgrade with Points During Check-In

Hi!

I'm travelling London -> Dubai next Saturday. My ticket is Economy Saver and I was hoping to upgrade to Business using points.

I made the mistake of not booking Economy Flex (which I think would allow you to upgrade anytime). With my Saver ticket you can only upgrade during the 48-hour check-in window.

Question - has anyone been able to upgrade during this window before? I'm guessing they only have a set number of available seats that they'll make available to customers upgrading with points?

Many thanks in advance!
Stuart

It's unclear whether the OLCI upgrade window (T-48) mean any available seat or only if the D bucket is available, in the past I've had success calling to upgrade within the window even though no availability appeared online. However at the airport you can definitely upgrade as long as any seat is available regardless of underlying availability

Thanks!

It’s within the check-in window now, but the app is showing no availability to upgrade with points. I’ll keep an eye on it and won’t actually check-in as I assume that limits ability to upgrade.

thanks

The app won't show it as it's no longer a regular miles upgrade based on the miles upgrade fare bucket but rather based on space available, try calling.
