Pay for lounge access

Only found out today this was a thing. Has this degraded the lounge experience by letting more people in?

No, very few people will pay $100 / $200 for lounge access.

I think as some other people have noted before it was to deal with the requests to get "my spouse/assistant/my colleague/my mother-in-law" in - pay up or walk away. Before this they had no recourse other than turning people away or letting people in against policy.

I asked the staff in the GLA lounge a while back and they said the numbers were quite high compared to expectations. It's a big lounge though so unlikely to make much of an impact.

in locations where there is VAT, yes, at the local rate. Assuming whoever is billing is a registered VAT vendor

If the vendor is a VAT vendor (almost certainly the case here). But yeah my statement was meant to indicate that more broadly worldwide it's 100USD + VAT as applicable. In DXB it's 105USD for example.

Anyone able to confirm that VAT (other than in DXB) is added? The website states that access is USD100 but does not say anything about VAT. Only for DXB it specifies that 5% VAT will be added.
