You mean in the J lounge, or on board?
I meant the coffee on board was Nespresso (in J and F, unless you have the disgusting "filter" which is just the Y freeze dried instant
)
F lounge coffee is the same as J, which is, I hear, the same beans as Costa - after all, EK own Costa in the UAE

wonder what changes they'll make to the F lounge I think the B lounge is a bit tired

The beans may be the same but of course barista made Costa beats machine made Costa, which beats a pre-ground capsule with an insufficient quantity of coffee in it.

I'm not sure that the Nespresso capsules - they use the professional type ones which have a better vacuum seal than the consumer pods - just because they are preground are automatically worse: fresh beans are ground and then immediately vacuum sealed in Switzerland before global dispatch.
Costa beans, I'm not sure how long they've been there - although, I accept the ones in the J lounge are likely to be quite fresh given the turnover.
Baristas, well, rare to find one that actually adds something special, given that baristas are simply cogs in the machine for the service standard

I meant that chelseastu wanted to run from F lounge to J lounge just to get a takeaway coffee to take on the plane, where the plane has Nespresso pods: I don't think I'd sacrifice my F lounge time for that!

. The issue with Nespresso is less about the freshness of the beans, indeed as long as they are immediately vacuum sealed they pretty much don't degrade, the issue is that the quantity of ground coffee in a single capsule (I'm referring to consumer capsules, no idea how much is in the commercial ones) is I think 6g, either way it's approximately enough for a single shot of espresso. I usually have a double-shot which then becomes weak with Nespresso pods as you strain to extract the flavour from such a small quantity of ground coffee. As for baristas, yes most aren't special but the main difference with barista brewed coffee I find is that the texture of the manually steamed milk is better than what comes out of the machines.

If you've got the time head to A, especially if you want quiet and space (head to the ends). B also great though as long as you hang out in the Champagne Bar. Also B has a smoking section.
C is fine for shirt stays and you can pour your own Heineken from a draught tap which is nice.
For showers also A is best. There's supposedly a new lounge (J/F combined) at the end of concourse C (lower C gates) but I haven't been there.
A also has a great and spacious business center if you want to do some work.
Contrary to OzTennis' view I often take the train to A just to use the lounge, sometimes even when departing from C (these days I just hit the Champagne Bar in B though).
Also there's only one lounge in B, OzTennis when you speak of B16 I think you just mean the other entrance to the J lounge from the smoking section?
EDIT: also if early morning and in need of coffee the B lounge has complimentary Costa coffee which is better than the machine coffee. And if you want ice cream ask for it, they have Haagen Dasz but not always on display. Doughnuts are also delicious

I also wouldn't take a trip on the train and back just to use a particular lounge; I'd rather maximise my time in the nearest lounge. As I said for me its land and take off in one concourse, use that J lounge. However if it was more than say a 2 or 3 hours break perhaps I would consider a train journey to and from A.
Yes, re B J lounge it's probably signs pointing to C J lounge I've seen in B.

Us South Africans are quite particular about our coffee

As for double shot, this is where you take over multiple galleys and all the machines on board!

The biscotti they serve in J is awesome with the espresso. I usually get an americano (yes, terrible, but I distrust drip coffee on airplanes) after waking up and I always look forward to it.

Nothing wrong with americanos, I drink two a day on average (trying to cut down on milk so moved to americanos from flat whites)
