Please post your 2017 Operational Upgrade Experiences in this thread.
Around the middle of 2016, Emirates modified their Operational Upgrade Policy favouring type of ticket over status holders, giving non status passengers on Flex and Flex Plus tickets an advantage over (for example) Silver members on a Saver ticket. During the latter half of 2016, less Op Ups were reported but we would still like to hear when they happen.

There's a great FAQ on IDB here:
https://www.emirates.com/us/english/...pensation.aspx
Turns out it can be re-routed but within the same "Zone" - as I am in the largest zone, i can go anywhere! LAX-DXB-AKL anyone?
I'd add it to the wiki but not sure where to do so...

I don't think EK does status match to Platinum. Pretty stingy when it comes to Platinum and make you earn every mile. For getting to Gold they may overlook if you are 500 miles or so miles short but for Plat, you need to earn every single mile.

-I was among the last group boarding the A/C - left late from crap CAI lounge
-No BP (CAI didnt allowed that at time)
-No OLCI has been done.
-No 'double beep' at gate check neither red led light
-Yes, def some glitch or last minute tech issue didnt allow me to get Op-upped at gate
The UAE local citizen with same BP seat number wasnt happy to experience him not getting priority over me on that Op upgrade but 'C'est la vie'

Can be overridden if the controller thinks its appropriate to do so (e.g. need 2 people, there's 1 Plat, who has a lap infant partner - easier to just take both on that PNR instead of going to the next Gold on the list).

me too.. Actually it was first time seen it.
Might have been local decision since all 3 class B777 were completely full (all flights out of NBO were fully booked during last week before elections..) and by the way the infant parents were behaving in the F suites i do believe they might have been bumped two class in one shot LOL

EK is generally known to offer a match to one tier above your current EK tier, not a blanket match. For new members that means you'll get instant Silver, though they'll usually be willing to wait for you to achieve Silver and then bump you straight to Gold. Were you matched straight into Gold?

I'm losing my platinum this month. I didn't get one OP Up in the past year as platinum flying Business Flex. But I had like 5 as gold. Kinda disappointing.

So my flight next month has been changed from an A380 2-class to a 773. I had paid to pre book a seat on the upper deck economy cabin.
I've been moved to the duo seat at the rear of the 773, 46B I think - I've read reviews that this seat in particular is misaligned due to it being the first of the duo seats. Emirates haven't yet alerted me that they've changed my assigned seat or of the aircraft change.
I have to say I'm not particularly bothered about any of this, quite happy to sit in 46B - but it has got me thinking...
What if once I get onboard or at check in - I were to mention to the crew that I'd paid to sit on the UD of the A380 and instead been allocated a misaligned seat, without being told. If no other Economy seats were available - do you reckon there's any chance of an upgrade?
My thoughts are with a shot as haven't got anything to lose, but good to get people's thoughts..
