EK Blankets

Bit of an odd one...

I was wondering why does Emirates go to the effort of collecting blankets off it's passengers in Economy towards the end of every flight, coming through with Bin Bags to take them in.

They don't seem to collect them in J and I've never seen it on other airlines who leave one on your seat - is it as a result of so many being stolen?

Yes, in my (admittedly limited) experience they take the blanket off you in J too, as mentioned above. I appreciate that the crew have a lot to do but I was very cosy in my blanket and they took it from me well in advance of landing.

Presumably blankets all over the place would slow down an emergency evacuation? Or is it just that it helps with the turnaround to have the blankets ready to be offloaded?

Is that not classed as animal cruelty?

The reason blankets are collected prior to landing is purely to assist with making a quick turnaround. Many years ago the crew would collect blankets after all passengers had disemarked but this was delaying cabin cleaners getting on and everybody getting in each other's way.
