Mrs M and I lost all status with EK a few years ago and used all of our remains miles just before they were about to expire, to buy goods. I had no expectation of an upgrade in these circumstances so we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded on the second leg of our Manchester to Madras trip (shame is wasn't the first leg, but I am always grateful for any free upgrades). Now all they have to do is scrap the last 772 which seems to spend all of its time between Kozhikode and Dubai. They have about three weeks before my return flight.
