Wondering if anyone has flown the Houston (IAH) to Dubai (DXB) in 2017 and whether it has the upgraded business seats ?

There is one plane I believe! See the recent routes - totally random.

There have been 5 flights in the last week operated by the 77W's with new business class seats. They have also operated on flights to Dallas and Orlando in the US. Not sure if this will remain consistent as it's always up to chance with which aircraft operates the route.

Emirates does not operate routes with specific seat types, if there are 100 routes that are operated by the 77W at a time and there is one with the new business class seat you have a 1 in 100 chance of getting it.

This is not entirely true when it comes to IAH. There is a small amount predictability when is comes to ULR routes as there are only a limited number of 77W's with the higher MTOW that can operate the routes. Usually this means older frames will operate such routes. It just so happens the newest 77W with the new J class seat is among them. Not sure how many more frames with the higher MTOW are to be delivered but I certainly hope many more

Sorry for my stupidity, but could you explain what "ULR" and "MTOW" stand for ?

Ultra long haul (flights over 12 hours or so) and maximum take off weight

As well as the issues mentioned already, some of the 77Ws with the new seats don't have a crew rest area so won't be put on these ULR routes.

All the new B77W wiht new C seats have a Crew Rest Area.

At moment only 3 frames have been delivered so far:
A6-EPV / EPW / EPX and they are indeed flying ULR routes.

Apologies, I was going by this post which says otherwise:

Yes, when these aircraft were delivered; it was not clear if they were ULR or LR frames....:-)

It appears at A6-EPW is flying out of Houston quite a lot. ^
Our chances are looking good for the updated seats!

Yup, thanks for the tips. If only I had known when booking..lol. I should have flown out of Dallas. They seem to be getting the new 777 almost everyday.

Is there a (relatively) easy way to find out which airframes have the new J seat?
Obviously on the day you sit in the seat you get, so there is no good reason to dig. But us FT'ers are a strange lot (I am told), so we try to see when the A/C leaves DXB what we'll get a few hours later. Madness???? Probably ;-)
