On board wifi
I know that you get a complimentary 10Mb of wifi - would that be enough to send a couple or three emails and maybe make a posting on facebook?
If you want to get the extra 500Mb i believe that is available for $1 - does that have to be pre booked, if not how do you pay for it ?

The EK wifi offer is probably the most generous of any airline that charges (wifi is free in F on the A380 for QR passengers).
$1 is minimal, and 500MB pretty good considering the speed offered - you certainly couldn't download a tv show, but for general social media and their respective Apps, it's fine.
Email works well too, but it can be a bit slow.
Also bear in mind that WiFi will not be available on the entire route - as certain countries are black out zones (Iran, Iraq, India etc).

You can bypass the free wifi offer by deleting cookies, it does not use MAC address. However on Windows you can isntall TMAC Mac address changer which is great for airport wifi (when not in lounge) and such time restricted places.

Slightly OT.
But does anyone have a troubleshooting guide for connecting to the on-board wifi. I've never actually been able to connect (iPhone 6 with whatever the latest OS at the time has been).
Specifically, I never reach the "challenge" login page that would let me activate my 10mb free or pay the $1 fee for 500Mb.
