Specifically, I never reach the "challenge" login page that would let me activate my 10mb free or pay the $1 fee for 500Mb.

Navigate manually to portal.inflight.onair.aero and it should take you to the landing page.

I use it when I run out of the 500MB 1$ wifi (I mostly don't even get the 10MB, just skip straight to the 500MB since I'll use it anyway). but as mentioned no MAC change necessary on EK, just delete cookies.

I usually pay 1$ on my phone + 1$ on my laptop and it gets me through most of the flight.

Just onair.aero also works, or more generally (but not as reliably) any non-HTTPS website. HTTPS websites like Google won't work because the SSL protocol won't allow redirection for safety reasons. I have a news site I always use on hotspots and generally works.

Why can't EK follow suit and give their F passengers free Wifi also? I have always been amazed that we are asked to pay $1.00 when sitting in the suites. It is more of a pain than anything and it seems a little ridiculous to be drinking Dom and eating caviar then having to get out a credit card for the silly one dollar charge. I understand upcharging and I completely understand bandwidth being limited by forcing a charge after 10MB, however can't the few people in F just be able to log in for free?

As an aside, I have never managed to burn through the 500MB. Are you able to pay for a second round of 500MB for another $1 if you run out (while not taking advantage of the system by deleting cookies, etc.)?

Not worth the whole printing out separate wifi credentials for F imho just to save some pax a few dollars.

You don't choose or not choose EK F because of wifi.

I suspect its EK's way of avoiding complaints about it not working .

If it doesn't work and you havent paid then they can say that its a free service not available on all flights.

If you have paid $1 and it doesn't work then the maximum they have to do is to refund you $1 . They will probably blame the 3rd party provider and also know that most people won't bother about it.

I can't believe you are concerned to pay $2 for 1GB of data. I usually Pay $15 to $20 in Etihad and BA flights.

They're definitely subsidising the cost of data so everyone who signs up costs EK something though they might pay per data actually used
