MAN or LHR

Hi there,
Bit of a trivial question really, and I understand everyone prefers different things.
But anyone have any pro's or cons about flying MAN-SIN in business class over flying from LHR or vice versa?
Flown from LHR last few times, so I know the lounge well, but never MAN.
Flights would be ek2 from LHR or ek18 from MAN
Have the option this time of flying from either airport, as will be visiting both. Iam sure there are avid supporters of both airports.
Thanks.

Th lounge at MAN is not as big as LHR, but just as good. Lots of food and drink selection.

The advantage of MAN is that once you push back, you're in the air within 10 minutes. At LHR, the taxiing can take > 30 minutes.

The advantage of LHR is that you can board from the lounge. At MAN, it's about 10 minutes to walk from the lounge to the EK gate. However, there is separate upstairs boarding for J & F.

Having had plenty of experience of both airports.... Manchester is smaller and generally faster. In terms of ground services you'll get the full business class experience, and the lounge is absolutely fine (probably the best lounge at MAN). Unlike the later EK20, EK18 is showing as business and first, so there's always the outside possibility of an upgrade. EK18 leaves (I think) well after all the morning flights to the US have departed, so the security theatre should a less of a PITA.

Security is a .... show at Manchester. I've never had one upgrade from MAN ever.

Not sure if you have flown from MAN T3 (EK departs from MAN T1).

All I can say is that the security check process at T3 makes T1 look better

I go through MAN T1 security every week. Never had an issue. Never more than 5 minutes in FastTrack.

Everytime we go through we get some right jobsworth - usually full bag checks and the queues to get the bags checked take some time.

LGW wasn't much better a few weeks ago either. Don't get me started on the electronic passport readers at man either - they don't work - what's the point!

Did you go through the old or new fast track at LGW N? It's vastly improved now from the old system with the AMS transit style multiple-user bag scan etc.

It was the new one about a month ago, was really busy. Bags got extra screening again!

Peak holiday rush time? I also got a check around the same time - must be overzealous security staff wanting to try out their new toys

Hmm... I've always maintained I don't have a face for upgrading. Perhaps it's because I'm always checking in at MAN...
