Sorry to revive such an old thread, but I'm wondering if the meal service in J on short/mid haul flights (E.G CAI, IST, ATH) is any different in quality from the first meal service on long haul flights, as I want to know what to expect on my upcoming flight.

You are usually able to pull up the menu for your flight online ..... Have you checked ?

I’ve checked the menu and it appears to be 3 courses, but I want to know if those 3 courses are served separately or together.

Pleasantly surprised that EK221 on Nov 27 now offers Thanksgiving options on the menu. I didn’t expect it because the following page doesn’t mention DFW flights.

Separately.

Gluten free meals Glasgow to Dubai

Boarded the plane in Glasgow for a flight to Melbourne via Dubai armed with snacks as I had a low expectation of Emirates catering for coeliac disease (following very poor experiences with Air Canada and BA in business.
The food was excellent and the attendants were very knowledgeable. The lounge in Glasgow did a special steak for me to avoid any cross contamination on the buffet.

Gluten free Dubai to Melbourne

Unfortunately, nothing I could eat in the lounge as it was mainly breaded food and too much of a cross contamination risk at the salad bar.

Curious question: how big are the tins of caviar in the galley if EK is able to guarantee 'unlimited' servings of caviar? 500g tins catered each flight?

The tins are 35g each. One serving is 50g, i.e.one and a half tin.
According to a FA I spoke with, kt is rare for a passenger to request more than a second serving (and even that is somewhat unusual). And anecdotally, the 'record' is 7......
I have once bene given a second helping by mistake, the FA brought it as she thought I had asked for it. I accepted (under the condition I was also given a second shot of vodka....).

Hey all, does anyone know if caviar is available on F from MLE to DXB? The menu on the website mentions it's available, but a review online from Thrifty Traveler mentions it's not. (I can't post urls to these unfortunately as I'm a new member)

Yes, it should be available. Review might be from years ago? The online menus are usually very accurate.

I will trust the menu then! I guess departing from MLE, I will miss out on the lounge experience and pre-departure beverage, but hopefully nothing else :)

EK didn't offer Caviar on flights under 5 or so hours such as MLE in the past. Since Auguast 2023 if I am not mistaken the Caviar service is now on shorter flights including CAI and AMM.
