Ahh thank you.

I think i will book using my 100k MR points rather than transferring over to emirates and having fuel charges.

Anyone agree or disagree thats the best option for about a $1k usd ticket?

For an economy return flight, that is probably a good choice

I just signed up for an AMEX Gold card, and triggered the 20k bonus. I tried to transfer the points to EK, but got an error setting up the link. Looking back, I can now see that my EK account is already linked to my AMEX platinum card.

Searching brought up this thread.... so I can see the issue.

The question is, can I transfer points from my AMEX Gold MR account to my AMEX Platinum MR account? I'd then be able to transfer to EK.

Or am I in for a world of pain?

Thanks

Your Gold and Platinum should be linked to the same MR account.

Hmmm.... I have 118 (count 'em!) points showing in the Platinum account, and 24k in the Gold, so it appears that they have been set up as separate accounts.

I'll give AMEX a call and see what they can do.

Weird. Would second the call to AMEX to see if they can merge MR accounts. When I log into my Amex account, it defaults to my platinum, but in the upper right it has my PRG so I can switch accounts, but the MR points available do not change.

Are the cards issued in the same country?

It should be one MR accounts for all cards. Amex should be able to sort it out.

Yes - all the same country.

Anyone else in the UK have a Platinum & Gold?

The easiest option is the merge because getting EK and AMEX to delink an established rewards transfer is like pulling teeth...

Just to close this off... I sent a secure message asking for the accounts to be linked. They wrote back confirming which account should be primary, and now the accounts are linked.

I was then able to transfer the whole lot to my EK account.
