New Blankets in Y
Noticed on EK222 today that EK has new blankets in Y. Much softer (nicer?) material and also less likely to become as crumpled as the earlier ones which I really hated. Wonder if anyone knows how frequently Y blankets are cleaned (never
)?
)?

Agree that the new blankets seem more comfortable than the old starchy ones.

Maybe I should take pictures of the crumpled blankets with hair etc. and send them to EK customer affairs?

My experience doesn't match with that. I've seen very badly crumpled blankets with hair and coffee stains on them which made them look as if they were just taken out of the plastic bag and resealed. If they are supposed to be cleaned after every sector then I am pretty sure they are not. Its a really bad feeling on ULH when you open the plastic pack to find a used blanket. Never noticed the country code or the paper slip but shall watch out for that on my next trip.

Thanks for confirming. Now that I know that blankets need to be laundered after each sector, especially ULH sectors, I'll definitely keep an eye out for blankets that have simply been folded back and packed without being laundered. Hope to post some pictures soon.

EK (and most decent airlines) bring sufficient blankets, headrest covers etc to in hold to refit whole aircraft on turnround. Lazy TRCs (Turnround coordinators), normally subcontracted, may allow reuse of 2nd hand bedding by cleaning crew. This is not acceptable. Please report...
