Overnight in the Dubai First Lounge?
So, landing into DXB at 1am (13 hour flight), with an 8am flight out (6.5hr flight), with access to the first lounge in Dubai.
Doing this routing so I can fly QF on the first leg and hope for an upgrade.
Thought I would eat, shower, use one of the nap rooms, shower, eat in the First lounge.
Has anyone else done such a stupid (intelligent?) thing?

Exactly - the breakfast in the F lounge is pretty much identical to that in the J lounge, except for some made to order egg preparations. I've never enjoyed breakfast in either the F or J lounges anyway.

For me, I love the breakfast in the F lounge. I order two poached eggs and the herb-mushroom crepes. If I have a morning flight, I'll always take my breakfast in the lounge. So, I guess an example of 'to each his own.' :-) I do agree J lounge breakfast is not that great.

- all the stuff in the displays, e.g. sushi, cheese, the mini sandwiches, balik salmon etc.
- all the salads
From the kitchen you can order:
- as you mentioned, various eggs, poached, omelettes
- herb mushroom crepes
- waffles and pancakes
- kippers
- fish cakes
- smoothies
- muesli that hasn't been sitting in the display chillers
and you can also order from the lunch and dinner menu. So, steak, or club sandwich for breakfast - no problem, I see people do that quite often.
I think it's inaccurate to say that the F lounge breakfast offering is pretty much identical to the buffet in J; in fact, I think it's vastly superior. Except that they removed chocolate croissants and replaced them with apple turnovers. That was an error I think...

As for sleep, depends how much of a light sleeper you are - I think for getting some proper rest, it sucks. You could probably have a nap but I don't think the "quiet rooms" are all that relaxing or even quiet. Sleep as much as you can on the plane I think, then kill time in the lounge with a one hour spa appointment and breakfast etc. Your 6.5 hour transit will end up being about 5 hours taking into account security and boarding time. If you do nap in the lounge, I would bring some ear plugs from the flight and the eye shades.

1. The breakfast menu has remained pretty much the same since the past 1.5 years or so that I've been frequenting the F lounge. So, when I look at the same stuff laid out and on the a-la-carte menu, trip after trip, I kind of find myself losing half my appetite anyway. I'd then stick to my standard 2 poached eggs on toast + dimsums and some sushi. And yes, they do have dimsums as well which is the other thing that I usually find edible apart from the eggs and sushi.
2. The service at breakfast time is the slowest, probably due to the high volume of pax passing through. So you have to wait quite a bit before your order comes through which I hate when one orders a standard item like poached eggs.
Perhaps, we should have a list of "Top 5 things" to sample at the F lounge for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner??

Rather off topic so apologies for this but seeing the picture above brought back memories of when I had to spend several hours in a paid entry lounge at Sharjah airport (4am to 9 am) and lay down on a sofa in the almost deserted lounge to catch some zzz's and was immediately approached and told that there was no sleeping allowed. I asked would it be OK to sleep while sitting upright and was told that I could not do that either. Slow blinkers be aware ...

I find the latest iteration to be so bitter and sour, that I've stopped drinking it altogether....I find Veuve in J to be more palatable...
