As mentioned in a previous post, I recently upgraded on board with miles from Y to F (on the A380...) after I'd had no luck upgrading to J (before flight, OLCI, check-in, lounge, etcc) as J checked in full.

So if I have a flex y upgraded in advance you reckon I can get to f for another 25k?

There's a couple issues with the second upgrade. No guarantee until all passengers are on board and there's a vacant seat. And you need to show the skywards card (whether digital or plastic) in order to get this through (luggage tag worked once with me but they were very reluctant).

From what I could tell the purser tablets have some sort of app with items they need to check off when processing the upgrade (like checking passport and EK card match - she checked my luggage tag and validity). Don't think this option is available for Blue's.

Correct - on board "Instant Upgrades" are only available for silvers and higher.
