Same flight number/different flight?

Same flight number/different flight?
I have checked expert flyer and there are 2 listings for EK343 leaving KUL for DXB at the same time Jan 4th...the availability however is different. Are there indeed 2 flights with the same flight code leaving at the same time? How would passengers know if they're on the correct flight?
1st listing says 6J and 1 F remaining
Other listing (later connecting flight to GLA) says only 1J available...
I did a dummy booking for 4 J tickets and it suggests there are 2 flights...can someone clarify this please.
