ExpertFlyer - help.

Hi,

I have subscribed to EF with a months 'basic' package. I would like to set up an alert to notify me when an 'upgrade' seat becomes available.

I am currently booked onto EK406 Dxb to Melbourne on Jan 4th. I have an economy flex ticket and would like to use my miles to upgrade.

What alert option should i tick when using EF. Is it Business Saver/Upgrade (D) or Business Flex Award (0)?

When I input (D) the result i receive is no availabilty and this has been the case for several weeks even though the cabin isnt full.

Thanks for your help ^

D is the correct award to check for. Non availability of upgrade inventory is a regular occurrence as EK likes to maximize revenue pax before offering seats for upgrades - if there are unsold seats, upgrades typically open up closer to the departure date.

Thanks for clarifying that. So I'm not able to set an alert that can inform me when the award seats become available?

You Can

Do a search in award availability for D class plus also search in "other fare class" for J

This will return the flight information showing the J availability for the flight

You can then click on the Flight Alert icon and select D class to be alerted on

Or you can set the Flight Alert for D class from the regular Flight Availability results or you can use the Create New Flight Alert link.

However Flight Alerts requires the Premium service, not Basic. You can upgrade from the My Account page.

The earliest date you can expect to find a D ticket available on this flight is around December 21

They haven't opened up any D bucket seats yet, but as of today there are at least 22 J seats available on that flight, so your chances of an upgrade look pretty good.
