Go figure which is better value....but man dxb dxb man d class is hard to come by these days!

I usually have no trouble getting upgrades to J MAN-DXB DXB-MAN - just this December one isnt coming up yet!
I even got an op up DXB-MAN a couple of months or so ago :)

You'll find with the extra capacity that the MAN upgrade will be easier, its also down to 'zoning'.
Basically all flights will be zoned. So KL/SIN etc will be in one zone whilst NRT/KIX another and so on and so forth.
Depending on frequency and yield will determine the amount of bookable upgrade rewards plus times of the year. Low season will see more upgrade rewards than high season - simple economics of 'well we can sell 3 seats extra at full fare or reduced fare rather than upgrade because its busier and we'll make an extra xx aed'
MAN don't forget now I think its 3x daily with 1 being 380? Or is it two? Cant remember exactly but you get the picture.
Iirc LHR is 32.5k one way for the upgrade. Although due to the constant load factors on LHR flights more often than not if your HVC then you'll be offered on OLCI the op-up in return for skywards (cheaper on skywards/ done it a few times with 20k miles) This was from J to F.

It would be cheap as chips to upgrade on the DKR leg and always upgrade rewards on that flight ;)

Just read that FT put about the zones :p

MAN is 2 x 77w and 1 380

All are pretty busy in J, the early morning departure being the quiet one.

I want to come back to DXB on 27th Dec and chances of UG is looking slim (not booked yet but looking for flex Y to J).

So are you saying the 0845 and 13.20 is currently oversold in Y?

Might defo book Y!

This is very useful - much more useful than my expert flyer data!

For ease lets say that the top 3-4 booking codes will be overbooked by around 3-4 each time. So if its showing 0 on availability you can bet your badgers if all the others are zeroed out, it'll be overbooked by a few in that particular class.

Lets say for example Y booking code is at 0. Now some airlines will display 0 if there is x amount of seats left.
However you know if the rest are at 0 and Y is at 0, then you can guess its overbooked.

Likewise with the number of free seats - although number of free seats will be strictly per booking amounts left at that time.

Alternatively phone up Skywards and they'll give u the booking figures, the figure of capacity you can tell from the route :D

Tried to book after this ans it said the 13.20 ie ek18 the a380 was unavailable in y, then later it quoted a higher price then tonight it was back to the usual cost of £850 each for flex y so I booked 2. Here's hoping for D availability!

Interesting!
I am angling for an upgrade from Y to J on 30th December DXB-MAN EK017.
Do you have any info on that one please DXBFlyer?
Thanks!

Me thinks DXB flyer has made a rather large rod for his own back here.:p

Not sure what I want to do here - chance sitting in Y or get an upgrade when and if they release inventory....

if it is that oversold then even on a status heavy flight I m not sure there will be too many golds in Y. Although I know 2 of my friends on that flight who are...

If traveling with family, I would choose the upgrade as soon as it becomes available - no point in playing the op-up roulette with the better half + chauffeur drive etc. And then hope for an op-up to F.
