oh, that's really unfortunate! I thought so long as you had your skywards number in your booking, you should have been good. In all my years of flying, I've never been asked to show the card but from your experience, I'll remember to carry it along with me now.

I'm still waiting on my Skywards blue card, finished my second trip as a Skywards member at the beginning of October last month. I will have enough miles for an upgrade in December, I doubt I will have my card before then, can I use the printout? Hopefully I can upgrade online if anything is available (also on an Economy saver ticket).
Also, with upgrades from Economy to Business, is it only lounge access I'll get and no chauffeur lifts? I'll only be upgrading my second leg (DXB>LHR) with a quite short transit anyway seeing as EK have rescheduled their HND flights both ways (1 hour difference) since I booked, I've had no email of these changes still which surprises me. Thanks |
Hi guys!
I was checking upgrade availablity on my next two flights DXB-MAN EK017. The one for next year is available but the one for 30th December isnt. Spoke to EK this afternoon and asked about J class availablity on the December flight and was it full - she said it was wide open and keep checking daily (which I do) and also phone them next week. Would it just be better to take the upgrade for next year ot would you risk it and keep checking? Do I have any chance would you think? Thanks! Daisymay :) |

If the other one becomes available, and you prefer to upgrade on it, you can cancel the one already booked and swap to the new one. No cost in miles for this (assuming they're both from saver or both from flex), and APD should be transferred as well. |

does an upgrade from Y to J incur any extra charges? (APD, taxes etc) thanks again |
It does if you fly from the UK but not from DXB or anywhere else I've flown from/to.
They add UK taxes of around £150 - may have that amount wrong as its a while since I upgraded a flight from the UK. DXB-LHR you wont have any additional taxes. :) |
thank you! hope there are upgrades available when I check in :)

I did say I may have the amount wrong - I was thinking of the amount for two of us which is 85x2 = 170 which is near enough give or take £20 ;)

They said they will have to check with Skywards and it's Friday and will get back to me on Monday - and then the upgrade availablity may have gone. Oh well, will let you know the outcome. Thanks again. |
