BA and Emirates Interline Agreement

Hello everybody:

I have a question. I will be flying from Delhi to Dubai in Emirates next sunday and then connecting in Dubai to Boston in British Airways. I will be in DXB 5 hours and there are two separate tickets. Is it possible for Emirates to check my baggage all the way into Boston? The thing is i need a visa to pick up my luggage in DXB and check it again to Boston and i want to avoid it.

Thank u for your help.

Regards!

I think there is an interline agreement between EK and BA, so your luggage should be able to be checked through to BOS.

Yes, you should be able to.

Back Up Plan A: I believe Marhaba offers a paid service where it takes your bags and re-checks them for you while your remain airside.

Back Up Plan B: Go to a transfer desk on arrival in DXB and say help! my bags are checked to DXB but I don't have a visa. They should be able to arrange to have bags re-tagged. This is based only on anecdotal evidence, however.

Thank you guys. I have another question, is it true that if Emirates refuses to check my bag to Boston i could be denied boarding?

I would say so. If EK do not through check you then as far as they are concerned you are flying DEL-DXB only for which you require a visa.

I just flew FlyDubai which I believe is the low cost arm of EK. Was connecting to a BA flight back from Iraq and was told there was no interline. Had to collect clear immigration, collect luggage and get a taxi from T2 to T1 so if I was you I would call EK to confirm.

Now I am going to say there should be no problem after a 30s internet search

http://www.emirates.com/english/plan...-partners.aspx

However worth checking as on two separate PNRs

Yeah i called Emirates and they said that they cant check the baggage all the way into Boston as there are separate PNRs, but the agent said that when i arrive in DXB i should go to transfer desk and they will take care of picking my baggage and check it into BOS on BA. Will this be true?

FlyDubai is NOT the low cost arm of EK. It doesn't even belong to the Emirates group.

This isn't a question of interlining, it's a question of separate PNR's. The # of carriers which will interline between PNR's is dwindling.

OP should not rely on being able to interline or being able to get this fixed while in transit by either EK or BA. His bags are likely to be tagged through to DXB.
