Caviar type?

Really enjoyed the caviar on my recent flight. So much that I now want to actually buy some <gasp>. My mistake in not asking what type it was. Can anyone help? Searching through past posts I gather it is wild Iranian. Any further details? Thanks for any help.

When we toured EK's catering facility last year, we were shown the caviar type but because I dont eat it, I didnt take any notice. I was far too interested in where they stored all the wine... But we will find out and let you know.

Is it just me or is it sometimes lovely tasting and sometimes very bitter? I tend not to go for it anymore because of the inconsistency.

Last time i had the caviar in F the eggs were small and very black - not even close to Beluga quality. I doubt the caviar is the gourmet house one given in the link. It was passable cheap caviar.

I saw the actual tins of caviar, with the Gourmet House name on the jars, on the link in my earlier post to the video of the tour of Emirates Catering facilities.
Now it may be that EK's supply is of a lesser quality, that I don't know. Although there is no claim by EK that it is Beluga, "just" wild Iranian.
The caviar I had a couple of days ago was lovely though, on both legs of flight

I was simply saying that the emirates caviar is not the Gourmet House Beluga as in your first two links - though Original Poster should get that one as there is none superior.

Gourmet House is reasonably priced in Dubai especially Osetra, which in my humble opinion is better (and cheaper). If you get a chance to purchase this one:

Saw it once in Dubai and snapped up a couple of tins, haven't seen it since.

As of June 2012, two different types were used ex-DXB... One type for US-bound flights, and another for the rest of the world. I'm not sophisticated enough to tell you which one is better!

Great , yes the use very little "fancy " packaging as the consumer doesn't see the actual container and also good to see you've been to the Hemel en Arrden valley .... good wines
