Oh dear, I had a sneaky feeling it wouldn't take long. You've rumbled me.
Was just having a bit of fun (doesn't take much to amuse me ..... !) And the very idea that Emirates would add yet another tier - be it Rhodium or whatever - to their rapidly-burgeoning Skywards programme is of course quite outlandish. Ridiculous even. Or .... is it ....??? They've already managed to create five separate tiers. Why not make it six ......?? ..... |
Why not Skyward Strontium? In Italy would be very popular!! :D:cool:

Too many new QF members diluting the perceived value of EK Gold & Plat since the start of the partnership/code share agreement ; hence the need to create a sense of distinction & exclusivity.
Not sure quite what the benefits/criteria will be, guess we just have to wait till launch date. Coming to an airport near you soon ...... And I agree, the EK partnership has essentially blended the QF and EK customer base together - especially within APAC - and more so out of Australia. Most crew couldnt tell the difference or even make the distinction between an EK frequent flyer and a QF one... |
Apologies eightblack if I've misled you, but as implied in my post (79, above) I was just creating a mythical new tier for my own amusement.
But then again as we all know, truth is often stranger than fiction ; and as I also commented earlier, who can say that - having already created five tiers - they won't at some stage decide to add a sixth..... And with it, yet more complications and division...... |
Just to clear up some confusion :
Ref the latest update - Gold/Plat cust are not to receive/or be ordering meal choices first only iO to receive this and they are to receive meal choices at the same time as SPML. Seat familiarity and menu etc - expected to be asked EVERY time regardless if you are HVC or not. Another stupid internal EK decision from management who sit and think of ideas to get a bonus. New KIS tablet which is windows thingy - information downloaded upon final loading. PIL also not given until final loadsheet produced. With regards to Plat - idea is similar to iO. More recognition but less - i.e. leave them alone they fly so much probably don't want to be bothered. |

Jackie - I'm sure its not such a big deal for you anyway right, it was never standard in the first place surely this just clears up any confusion but I think its fair. iO I do sort of understand taking a meal order before anyone else but even then most iO's I've dealt with don't want the molly cuddling. All I expect is a welcome back on board at some point during the flight - for everything else it doesn't make a difference but I'm extremely pro crew and what I despise is people "I'm HVC/Plat so I should be treated like I'm royalty"
m3 - I can assure you this isn't something CC want to do either especially if they're somehow aware of the HVC. If a manager is on board and they don't do this simple thing - quite simply put they can face a warning letter on their employment file. The blame culture within the internal EK realm's is not only disgraceful but dire. EK internal keep implementing things which most customers find overpowering and ridiculous because it makes the crew seem like the pax are stupid etc. Anyhow rant over - m3 they know you know, perhaps when you sit down a "I know how the seat works and know you have to ask but thanks" ;) |

My issue is not so much about being served first, but more about the crew running out of meal choices, especially in Y. It happened in my last leg. I'd rather that the crew serve me last but at least the meal that I would like to eat. Ideally, I would like that the SFS/ Purser come up and just ask me if there is something that caught my attention in the menu and the crew can serve it out with the usual meal service. Its not a big deal, but just one of the nice things that EK can do for their premium FFs - I've had quite a few SFS come and check on me about my meal preferences, so am sure it can be done.
So am I. That's clearly not the expectation - the hope is that if there was a way EK could give due consideration to the meal preferences of its premium FFs. Getting served before everyone else is not the idea. Just FYI as you are pro crew which I think is ^. The crew will arrive at HQ at 11pm for a 1am departure then do a 3.5 hour trip. Arrive early morning, turnaround and then go back to Dubai - Getting back at around midday. Anyway, glad to see somebody pro crew! I think my point was sometimes it can be quite hard and time consuming to do it especially in Y/C. No, for yourself that may well be true and its very few and far between that play the importance card however there are those that do. I understand it would be nice for them to offer but its another thing for the crew to try and complete in the given time EK are already stuffing crews throats with enough. |
I was booked last-minute on a flight from SIN yesterday, and could only get a seat in Y. I was still offered a meal choice first, and served first, even though I was way back in Y.....
I'm fine with "Do you know how the seat works?" Simple matter of waving them away. "Have you flown with us before?" is bizarre though. Perhaps a language thing. |

Still trying to work out how to quote only snippets of text :p You may very well find that some will still do it - but as per EK policy on the latest update (depends who bothers to read it) I'm sure you will find it less and less for asking meal choices. Nice touch when/if it happens but sadly its "SOP is only to ask iO meal choices first"

Jack - Oh I've no doubt it would be a nice touch but I can assure you on a BOM/HYD/AMD sector its highly unlikely to happen. Time restraint for one and various other reasons.
