Did anyone get their platinum card as yet? I'm due to fly on the 1st of April, and haven't received anything as yet. My gold card is expired, hope the e-gate function of the card is still working....

It doesn't. My card expired Feb 28 and when I tried to use the e-gate in early March it didn't work.

Platinum status

With all the new Platinum cards sent out at the same moment there may be a bit of a rush at the e-gate offices to update them.

By the way, anyone already nominated a partner for a Gold card? Does that other person have to be a Skywards member already? When do partners receive their card?

Got mine a couple of days ago. I have not seen it yet but my assistant assures me a package with a Platinum card has been received and is on my desk. Looking forward to the unwrapping!

My boarding pass still said Gold. I quizzed her regarding how she knew - she said that they that received an email from DXB advising them that i would be traveling with them along with passenger list.

I could see the difference in the attitude - crew was very hospitable, they repeated came to check on me, asked me if I need somethig or if they coud do somethign else to make my journey comfortable.

It was niceeeeeeeeeee.......!!!
What cabin were you traveling in? This is something I would expect even without status in EK F. If they are able to differentiate the onboard product for Plats in J and Y then that is very good indeed.

They were not sent out simultaneously - in my experience anyway. A colleague got his last week but no sign of mine. His last name first letter is L and mine T Given the actual numbers involved and the fact that most Dubai residents would get a seperate 2 year e-gate card rather than having to annually renew the one on their EK qualifying FF cards I doubt you will experience much of a rush.

Just like I/O, Platinums are listed on a separate "passenger information sheet" that has the customers full name, likes, final destination, preferred seat location, etc...

Last night the purser on FRA - DXB said they where given briefings on Platinum starting in February.

I thought it was just HVC+ beside their name... I suppose that will allow for more personalisation.

I will be on QF1 from SYD-DXB tomorrow, crediting to Skywards. Interested in seeing how I will be treated, being a QFF Plat also.

So excited to be able to use the QF F Lounge on EK flights! It's my favourite lounge in the world.

It used to be that as a Gold one could expect preferred treatment onboard, something I have even previously received as a Silver. Of course, as EK start to operate more and more big aircraft, and people travel more and more often, it becomes difficult to differentiate the service. And to be honest I haven't flown anyone but EK in Y mid-long haul in a long time, and when I'm in J on any carrier I don't really care about anything and just want to sleep.

Received the package today via Fedex. A heavy box but not much material in it - membership card, 2 baggage tags, a welcome letter, egate brochure and another sheet giving instructions for the Platinum welcome gift. Go to http://www.emirateshighstreet.com/platinum to check out what is available, but only from Apr 2.

And for the more curious folks, my last name starts with D.

I couldn't wait

I really like that pen. But that's probably bad value because it's only 20 on Amazon.

Tier points inaccuracy

Slightly annoyed that my tier miles showed 179,000 via the old Skywards website last week so I went to HKG and back on CX instead of EK. When I checked the new Skywards website this morning it shows only 140,000....! Apparently on the old website your total included future tier points which seems completely illogical. (Flying the SFO tomorrow so not the end of the world but still........)

Separately, I've done 150,000+ tier points in each of the six years I've lived in Dubai so it's typical that EK would introduce Platinum three months before I move to Singapore!
