Gold-coloured trim everywhere and over-use of fake wood, even around the windows. If you compare it to the subdued almost minimalist look of Swiss you can really see the difference.

Many airlines have wood/fake wood trim. So does my Toyota 4Runner. Is that blingy?

I remember the first time I was in a F suite it seemed a bit over the top, but one gets used to it, and now in fact I rather like it. Now if only I can get over that slight feeling of claustrophobia.

The thing I don't like is the A380 J window storage bins. They are GREAT to have but it's very annoying when they constantly open because you lean on them!!!

They do have a cargo 747. But, wasn't referring to an EK 747, but rather how the upper-deck bins are done on the 747s I have been on. I just flew a Thai A380 in J and they have identical bins to EK in J, you lean on them and they pop open, which is very annoying. I then connected to UA on a 747 in J, and their bins have a button to open, so you can rest your arms on them no problem.
I don't know if the bin design is by EK or by Airbus, the Thai flight I was just on early today had identical seating arrangements to the EK A380, and identical bins.

It is blingy when you take it the first time. All the old trimming, but you really get used to it and love all the amenities that come with it.
Love the shower and all the products they have, love that the toilet is cleaned every time it is used. Love that the lady prepares my stuff before I get into the shower. Feels like home service. And btw I am a BA loyalist. But now whenever I go to the ME I take EK.
