I have had two sectors on A380 F recently (1A and 2K) and the service difference between the was like night and day....1A being far better and 2K service not existing. Having said that, not exactly solid stats and my next flight I'm in 2K as the A side is full.

Zol, I agree with UKDoctor -- your service deficit does sounds like a crew issue rather than a configuration or equipment issue.

My understanding is that the A380 and B777 experiences differ quite a bit. Most people seem to be huge A380 fans. I'll be traveling on 777-200LR for 2 - 141/2 hr segments, and on 777-300ER for 2 +/- 8 hr segments. Thankfully all 4 segments do show suites.

I changed my seats to 2K for the trip. Any other EK tips from those of you who are regulars?

2e and f were fine for me although there was only one other f pax and seat 1 e and f was broken hence why I ended up in row2. Just be thankful it's not sky cruisers. Me I prefer the 777 to the 380.

If you don't mind sharing, what features or benefits do you think make flying on the B777 preferable to being on the A380?

I prefer the 777 since with only 8 passengers max I find the cabin nicer. The suites on a 777 are just as nice as the 380. When boarding , the 1st door is for 1st class only so don't even need to share an aerobridge ( a v minor benefit )

The only thing to me where the 380 is better than the 777 is that it has the showers

Suites- 777 vs A380

- 8 Suites Vs 14 Suites
- No Shower Vs Onboard Shower
- 777 has slightly taller Suites
- Dom Perignon Vs a choice of Dom Perignon (Fixed )
- Side by Side Suites Vs Offset Suites for more Privacy when doors are opened
- First Class Only Aerobridge Boarding vs sharing Aerobridge with the others (Credit to DN)
- Individual Push Button Blinds vs Simultaneous Controller Closed Blinds

So they both have their own advantages.

1, 3 and 6 are plusses for 777
2 is a plus for A380
4 - personally couldn't care less what alcohol they serve - they both have the same orange juice and sparkling water
5 - How much more privacy can you really get with a suite with the door closed

For me, it is still only the shower where the 380 wins

Dave

Dave for me the A380 advantages are 2 and 5. Especially if you don't want to keep your door closed all the time.

Agree with you for the 777 plusses

The other thing for me, on the routes I can fly where both 380 and 777 are offered, I find that the 380 loads are a lot higher than 777. Often only 1-4 people in 1st on th 777 ime and then the privacy issue disappears. e.g. I was comparing going 380 vs 777 on SYD-DXB; the 380 was almost full in 1st whilst the 777 had 2 passengers

Which is why esteemed Dave I followed your advice (and that of others) and used my miles to upgrade to F on the EK435 departing BNE this Sunday. I shall report back.

For a variety of reasons I hate leaving OZ to return to the UK but THIS part of the journey promises to be fun! Fortunately I am an equal BIG TART for both Dom and Krug!
