Upgrade chances?
Which is better for a chance to upgrade from business to first? The DXB to JFK A380 at 2.25am or the DXB to IAD 777 at 2.20am?
I have a certificate for a space available upgrade and can route either way to my final destination.
Thanks for your advice!

I am not familiar with upgrade certificates on EK (but I was once given a space available upgrade from SIN-JFK due to a service issue) - but if you let us know the dates of travel, we can easily check indicative loads. Remember, you'll have better luck on the A380 because the F cabin has 14 seats (as opposed to 8 on the 777) and the J cabin has 76 seats (as opposed to 42), meaning that they will have more space to op-up out of Y, if Y is oversold.
The other advantage of DXB-JFK is that you have 2 x A380 services a day, meaning you've technically got 28 available F seats a day...

You need Z class availability to open up and at present, EK's inventory management system has both the IAD and JFK flights locked down tighter than Fort Knox - ie no Z class available. Good luck, let us know how you go.

That was nice! I complained about my wife getting a pair of trousers ruined by the pre flight drinks - orange at the Tarmac at man before a flight to Vietnam. They weren't great on board and only apologised, I expected some miles or something. Anyway on the next j flight about a week after I got back the purser gave us a bottle of veuve, which was nice.
