Change saver to flex ticket
Hi Everyone,
Maybe someone can advise?
I made a booking EK to NYC return from BKK with the Jan Sale, booking a saver fare, paid the tickets already, all issued (this is for Apr 13).
Tried to use my points no luck (as always) finding a saver fare.
Now I want to change my saver tickets to flex tickets so i can upgrade to J for less as I have enough points then. Called EK and they said NOPE cant do it, i need to cancel and then rebook which I find strange. I mean I am offering to give them more money to upgrade to Flex, does anyone know how to get around this.
I have tried amending my booking on manage my booking but i can change flights or upgrade to business BUT can not change to flex fare for the same flights, any idea?

Changing to Flex Fare is not considered an upgrade from Saver Fare, since upgrade means a different class of service. So from Y to J for example is an upgrade, while Flex or Saver doesn't mean a different class of service (you have saver business class tickets). Therefore you will need to look at your ticket restrictions and "change" your flight to the same flight at a higher booking class which means paying the change penalty. You'll have to pass through EK service line or your travel agent to do it.
