Skywards confusion

Im right now a skywards blue member, downgraded somewhere in the end of last year. But when I was a silver member ( last July ) I made a booking for this month, and the e-ticket issued said I was silver member, but not for my travel in Jan 2013. In December ( after getting downgraded ) when I was choosing my seats both skywards page & manage booking pages showed Im a blue member, and baggage allowance of 30kg. Today when I just used manage booking, I saw I was mentioned as Silver member, and the page showing the 12 kg excess, but when I clicked on the e-ticket file to get a print of the tickets, it showed Im a blue member in the ticket. My skywards page also tells that Im a blue member who needs 13 k miles before 31 Jan 2013 to achieve silver. Im travelling this weekend and coming back in Feb 1st week, but the 12kg excess in indicated in all my flights.

Im just confused. I dont care of the lounge access ( anyway its not in DXB as of now ) but this 12kg excess is tempting. What could have happened ? There is no email telling me that I was given silver, nor I had flown 25k in the last year, dont have any future bookings.

HELP please..!

My guess is it is just a glitch in the MMB system. The ticket is correct and you know that you are blue so I don't see any confusion.

That was quick. Thanks..!!

I know that Im blue, but can I not make use of this glitch , if it stays until I online checkin? May be its my Newyear's gift . Not everyone would keep a track of the status, especially when people like me who reduced air travel considerably. What they see is what they believe before travel. Again, just for that 12kg which will be a greater help, I hope they cant turn down in the airport telling me that its a glitch

if you turn up at the airport with 12Kg over the allowance , you can expect to be charged for it

Whatever is on the ticket is what you can expect to be allowed

But the 12kg excess is never mentioned in the tickets for silver member in Economy, its always 30kg in the tickets, 12kg excess is only mentioned when you scan through '' manage booking ''. So only if you knew the benefits you get the extra 12kg. Correct me if Im wrong.

Yes correct its not on the ticket but the agent at check-in knows you are blue as their systems are accurate so it won't fly am afraid.

EK's system has been known to do this. MMB remembers your status at time of booking even if you then end up changing tiers prior to travel. There have been some posts about this in the past. My daughter had exactly same occurence as yourself but as Zol said above when she turned up at the airport with about 8kg over basic allowance and fluttered her eyelashes, showed them a print from MMB, etc., etc., it was all to no avail - she was blue and they knew it (as did she) so she left some stuff with us rather than ask me to pay the extra for her ...
