Bird Chirping on Arrival

Not really worth a thread, but didn't know where to post it elsewhere.

I arrived last night from HAM in DXB and we were woken up around 40 minutes prior to arrival by a really noisy, high-pitched bird chirping which lasted for almost 10 minutes and didn't stop.
Wasn't like this few days earlier.

According to the FA it's new "wake up entertainment". Was extremely annoying in my opinion. Anyone else had it?

Cheers,
w00t

Chirping birds has been around for years and was first introduced on the A340-500. The function has been disabled but pops up every now and then when they do a software upgrade to an aircraft.

Very annoying.

There is sometimes a glitch in the IFE which means this plays upon takeoff and also landing. This hasn't been part of the formal IFE programme for some time now.

Nearly as annoying as that bloody arrival into Dubai video. Awful.

Call me crazy, but I actually like the welcome to Dubai video! It's not that bad. The song got annoying after about 4 times but I still like it because Dubai is one of my favorite cities, so it sort of gets met excited to be flying in!

There was a 'Too many announcements' thread a while back...

As far as I am concerned the PA should be for a quick welcome message and thereafter for safety announcements and the captain's updates only.

I would be impressed if any airline managed to serve a decent Yorkshire pudding.

I would happily scrap everything other than safety announcements or announcements to detail issues ( e.g. flight departure delayed ). No need to intrude with multi language "welcomes" nor for the pilot to say anything

Giant Yorkshire pudding with medium rare striploin (with the fat on) and gravy poured over with a beer to wash it down. Proper man food, for the ladies a salad drizzeled with some balsamic wotnot and a hint of something you cant see or taste with a pan seared something.

Any airline that manages that. I am on dont even really care where they fly to.

The birds are annoying though and I have been lucky only to have encounterd them a few times.

A side note to the thread..... Inside the terminal buildings at DXB you will often find stray mynah birds and sparrows, which is pretty weird!

I think a bird chiping is a bit nancy anyway. They should go the whole hog and have a cockeral cockadoodledoing or a turkey gobbling away for 10 minutes, seriousley it they want to annoy people then do it properly.
