Help needed for Dubai Layover
I am going to India via Dubai from US and have 2 flight options :-
1. Emirates Airlines via Dubai and they are I am taking a layover of 5 nights while coming back to US from India in Dubai. All itinerary including 5 nights layover via emirates Airlines and its very expensive option. Emirates is issuing the whole ticket.
2. As previous option even though simpler as whole journey is on Emirates and no need to check in and check out bags is very expensive , I did some research and found an alternate option.
US-Dubai-US on Delta and I found a separate Emirates flight which connects me from Dubai back to India and vice versa. To clarify I am buying 2 totally separate tickets 1 from Delta (US to Dubai) and from Emirates from (Dubai to India).
Option # 2 is very cheap as compared to 1 and I understand that I need to check in and check out my bags as DXB as onward journey is only till DXB on Delta , but I have a few doubts as in is it allowed to break your journey like this on an airport as I have separate bookings from 2 different airlines and will I face any issues?d Do I need to take my check in bags in DXB and go for immigration/customs?
I understand that Delta operates via terminal 1 and Emirates via terminal 3 , so in onward journey from US- India ( DXB connection ) do I need to go out of airport?
I hold Indian passport and for return journey India - US ( transit via DXB ) I am getting a Dubai tourist visa for 5 days.
I have posted this question in other forum and did not get satisfactory response..

Your post is a bit confusing. If this is your only question:
"I understand that Delta operates via terminal 1 and Emirates via terminal 3 , so in onward journey from US- India ( DXB connection ) do I need to go out of airport?"
Then as answered above if bags are tagged all the way then you can transfer between terminal air side without exiting or going through immigration. But if you anyway want to stopover in Dubai for 5 days then it doesn't matter. You anyway have to collect your baggage

Let me clarify, I did speak with Delta on this and they are saying that they might/ might not tag my luggage all the way through to India as I have not bought both the tickets through Delta and they are separate itineraries ( separately bought tickets ).
If at check in counter Delta doesn't agrees to tag it all the way then what will happen exactly.

You can read through the same concerns I had recently
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/emira...k-ac-ffps.html
From what I understand
1. If Interlining agreements exist, bags will be tagged from origin destination to final destination.
2. With no interlining agreement in place, to exit and enter the airport you would need a 96 hour transit visa as arranged by Merhaba. However if you have a confirmed onward booking you do not need to apply for the 96 hour visa/hotel accomodation but just an airside transfer from T3 to T1 as mentioned above. Transferring from T3 to T1 is considered an airside transfer and does not require a visa (96 hour visa)
3. If entering Dubai on a 30 day visa (which would apply in your case since it is more than 96 hours), one cannot re-enter DXB during the 30 days after arrival. (Again in your case your stop is on the way back to the US. Had you tried to stop for 5 days on the way in and then 5 days on the way back, within 30 days you would have faced some issues)
Please let us know of your experiences once you travel and if you had any problems with the 96 hour visa, how much it cost, did you need to book a hotel etc?

Not quite accurate. If you enter the UAE for a stay of more than 15 days at any time (on whatever type of visa), you cannot APPLY for a new visa within 30 days of your EXIT from the UAE. You can enter on a 30-day visa for between 4-15 days and have no issues with a re-entry.

DXB is overrated.
