1st class availability

I booked my youngest a one way flight from Bangkok to Manchester via Dubai of course in 1st as a treat for doing well at University over the last 3 years.

When we discussed the schedule, and looked at the equipment, I suggested she might like to try the A380, for the WOW effect, so I phoned the local office here in BKK where I am at the monent, and was told that despite the flights being 2 months away, there is no more availability, on the A380 flight that, the preceeeding or the following day, which I find hard to beleive.
Anyway, I emailed Skywards, and they too confirmed that they are unwilling to make the change to the A380 flights, at which I have to say I am a bit dissapointed, the replay almost smacks of Flying Blue's "I'm sorry Sir, this is not possible" attitude, and not what I expected of Emirates to a long time Gold member, trying to treat his daughter.

As it is she's on 777's both legs, one with and one without Suites.

Either keep calling or at least set up a seat alert via ExpertFlyer. Inventory will move all over the place during the run up to Xmas...are you booking an award seat or is this revenue? I'm assuming its an award by the way you've written your post.

We regret to inform you that all First Class seats allocated for Skywards reward redemption bookings are already fully booked on EK flight 375 and EK flight 17 for Miss Tezzer's Bangkok to Manchester via Dubai flight on 15th November 2012. The same goes for 16th November 2012.

Availability of seats are always subject to change without prior notice. For this reason we kindly request you to check back with us closer to your daughters travel dates as this is when other passengers cancel and/or change their reservations thus releasing seats.

That there is no 1st class reward availability is a lot different to there being no 1st class availability

If booking 2 separate tickets

On 15th there is availability on EK375 from BKK to DXB

On 16th there is availbility on Ek17 to MAN

This does necessitate an overnight stop in Dubai though

It does seem though, that for a through booking from BKK to MAN , there is no availability

I am not sure why you are complaining that they told you that there is no reward availability when there is no reward availability

Welcome back tezzer, haven't seen you for a while. And great idea to gift your daughter a flight.

Now regardless of the (awesome) merit, I don' think EK can do much when seats are not available. What do you want them to do? I guess there are a lot of (Gold members) customers like you trying to book/ gift a seat and they don't get one. The class is irrelevant imo.

However, there is this unpublished benefit that EK has a small capacity of seats for Gold members only. Apparently, even these seats are not available.

I'd sign up in Expertflyer and set up a seat alert. Crossing my fingers!

Much resepct Emirates. They called me a couple of times today, but had to bounce the calls, as I was in meetings. So called them back, and yes they CAN change the flights, for $25 change fee, but a refund of 25,000 miles !

Fees refunded and re-taken, miles refunded and the lesser amount taken so a result all round, and little Tezzer gets to do 2 A380 suites, the 1st class lounge in Dubai and I'll be dad of the week !

All round result, thanks EK, you are the best !

You'd be Dad of the month/year/life if you were my Dad!

Hope she enjoys!

Before complaining, have you checked the loads on those flights? I just went to buy a full F tkt from JFK-DXB for travel in November & not only was the flight I want already sold out in F on that date, but the next day as well. If I want to travel on EK 202 in F, I must wait 2 days from my desired travel date (204 is avail but I prefer 202). If some flights are sold out (or close to it) in full F, you can't expect a redemption tkt

I'm not saying this is the case but you should check. I was pretty surprised my flights were sold out already 7 weeks in advance

**Never mind, I see you got your flights . But this is a good rule of thumb anyway

Looking to adopt? I did well in uni :-P
But seriously, congrats, I am sure she will love it. And even better with a bit of a mileage refund.
