Changes in DXB and onboard
Received a message from the Emirates Hub regarding changes related to customer feedback both on the ground in DXB and in terms of onboard service delivery. Looks good but seems to be focused on premium cabins only
DXB
We met with the wider Airport service team, talking about how you feel DXB is a leading airport, but that there are some service changes youd like to see made to enhance the service further.
We discussed self-service check-in and work is being done to develop the software after your feedback. In addition the team were keen to highlight that there is a dedicated Gold and Silver check-in for those travelling from Dubai in economy.
We also talked about transit times around the airport. As regular travellers have seen, a new concourse is being built and the team are keen for this to be completed quickly as they feel this will really help to ease some of the difficulties you highlighted.
You also mentioned difficulties with bus transfers to and from the plane and these being overcrowded at times. In response, the team have recently ordered 60 new Mercedes-Benz buses which will be used specifically for First class passengers, so soon separate buses will be provided for each of the three classes. They hope this will add to your experience.
Finally they were particularly interested in your responses to the self-service topic and your suggestion of an airport application for mobile phones. The team are currently developing this and we hope to offer you a sneak preview in the coming months.
Service Delivery
We met with various members of the service delivery team including Kevin Griffiths (who is the Senior Vice President for Cabin Crew).
We talked about your good and bad experiences with cabin crew and your views about the recent changes to food service in First and Business.
Whilst you fed back on these topics last year, the team were developing new service standards which all existing and new flight attendants will be trained on. The team have also been working to develop the training given to the pursers on-board to ensure that the good experiences you have had are more consistent. We also talked about the importance of welcoming you on-board and the team hope youll start to see a more consistent welcome in coming months.
With regards to catering, the team are aware that while the majority of customers enjoy the new way of serving food on-board, there are a few special touches missing. Theyve reviewed flight trends and increased the loading of dessert/cheese/fruit on-board to make sure that you have the opportunity to order more than one from the tempting selection.
Emirates have also introduced crisps alongside nuts in Business class, again in direct response to your comments.
Well be asking you for more feedback on the service on board once these changes have had time to establish themselves.

That is certainly how it reads. Another sign that they feel there are too many gold cards in economy. Maybe a temporary matter until the new concourse opens. I guess it is true what my broker tells me; sell your gold it's going down!

I also noticed this week that there is a new EK T3 Biz lounge or at least lounge access with what looks like more seats, it is located one level up towards the end in direction of stairs to T1.
there is a lift available for it and a staircase.
I hadnt seen this before on here or in person if this is old news, not sure how I missed it!

The purser assured me he would write up a complaint, but I did tell him no one listens. I have complained 8-10x myself, with emails to Dubai, New York, SFO, and Mumbai.
Time to drop EK for good. SQ does a better job with Ind Meals in economy.
I already have booked 3 *A R/T between India/US for the rest of this year. One on SQ and 2 o TG - all for a lower price, too.
EK's success has gone to their head. They cannot even get the basics right anymore - wifi, special meals etc.

Now it appears that Golds/Silvers in Economy both have to use the former Silver check-in area in the main terminal and cannot use the premium check in or immigration/security point.
Which just means that one of the 3 remaining benefits of Skywards Gold has been taken away as well.

At least we still have "Opening Doors" though.

Golds used to be able to check-in at the First/Business check in area and use the dedicated premium immigration/security point, while Silvers had a separate check in area in the main terminal but had to use the main immigration/security point.

Is this confirmed? Have you been refused access to First/Business check in? Is this to make room for the 4th tier that 8B subtly intimated last week??

@Zol , I am also on emirateshub. I would like to add the Statement which are posted regarding Skywards:
We know that the changes made to the programme in 2010 caused a mix reaction from you.
We met with Brian LaBelle, senior vice-president of Skywards and his wider team. We talked about your concerns around earning miles and how tier status is calculated, awarded and renewed. We also shared your views about decisions about tier changes needing to take a more personal view of individual circumstances.
We also talked about how being a Skywards member is also about being recognised as a good customer and how youd like to see more recognition throughout your Emirates experience.
The team were keen to hear your views and experiences. There are a range of initiatives and benefits planned for the coming year and well be keeping you up to date on their progress.
Please join in the discussion below if you want to share your comments

I think First and Business check in always turn away people who are weighed down with their own sandwiches, Do not disturb stickers and crates of Diet Coke, no?
